Do you get a full night’s sleep and still hear people say that you look tired? Then perhaps a blepharoplasty is just what you need to rejuvenate your appearance and increase your self esteem.
A blepharoplasty is cosmetic eyelid surgery that removed the excess skin and fat around your upper eyelids, your lower eyelids (the “bags” that make you appear tired), or both. The common procedure is successively performed on thousands of people each year, often for cosmetic reasons; to make you appear younger and well rested. However, a blepharoplasty may also be performed if excessive skin folds droop down and impair your vision.
This eyelid surgery is ideal if you have:
• Stubborn bags under your eyes
• Excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in your upper eyelids
• Saggy or loose skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid and may obstruct your ability to see
• Droopy lower eyelids that reveal the white area below your iris (colored part)
• Oriental eyes that you want to appear more western
• Excess skin or fine wrinkles in your lower eyelid
What to expect
During your initial consultation, you will discuss with a qualified cosmetic surgeon what problems you would like corrected. We will talk about and assess:
• Your cosmetic goals and expectations
• The motivation behind your surgery
• Your medical history
• Your age and overall health
• The texture of your skin
Cosmetic eyelid surgery can improve your appearance, but it can not correct:
• Blemishes
• Skin discoloration
• Fine lines or wrinkles around your eyes
• Dark circles
• Sagging eyebrows
The procedure
A blepharoplasty is typically performed under a local anesthesia. Your cosmetic surgeon will make incisions within the natural creases of your eyelids. Then, excess skin will be removed and your incision will be closed up with very fine sutures no thicker than a few strands of hair. If you are having the bags underneath your eye altered, only the excess skin will be removed. Extracting the entire fat pad beneath your eye has caused hollowness and a sunken appearance in some cases. Removing the minimum amount of fat will rejuvenate your appearance without the possibility of an unfavorable outcome.
After surgery
Your sutures will be removed several days after surgery. You will probably experience some swelling and bruising for a week or so after surgery. Applying cold compresses to your eyes can help reduce these post-operative conditions.
You will notice most of your cosmetic changes in the first week or two after your surgery. However, keep in mind that total outcome of your surgery may not be obvious for up to a year. The ability to see the results will depend on your physical traits and how your body responds to the procedure.
Scarring
Although the incisions will be made in the folds of your eyelids to conceal any potential scarring, there is always a possibility of visible and permanent scarring.
You should refrain from rubbing the treated area for at least six weeks in order to avoid damaging your new sensitive tissue. Some patients find that applying aloe Vera or vitamin E can help reduce any noticeable scar tissue. Makeup can also help conceal any visible scarring. If the scars are severe, they can be treated with additional surgery.

Porcelain veneers are made out of a thin porcelain material. They are attached to the front of your teeth to cosmetically enhance your smile. They have become a very common cosmetic dentistry procedure and can make a great addition to your smile makeover.
Porcelain veneers can be used to:
• Restore worn or chipped teeth
• Cover stained teeth
• Close gaps between your teeth
• Lengthen your teeth
• Straighten crooked teeth
Benefits of Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers provide you with an excellent way to cosmetically improve your smile. They resemble your natural tooth structure more than other materials used in tooth restoration. The porcelain material is very durable and will last a long time. Veneers allow your cosmetic dentist to adjust the color and translucency in order to match the appearance of your natural teeth. They are also very stain-resistant, which will help keep your smile bright for years to come.
Why Do Porcelain Veneers Look So Natural?
The ceramic material used for porcelain veneers is translucent and therefore closely mirrors the properties of your natural tooth enamel. When light hits your teeth, it goes through your enamel and reflects off of the dentin, the opaque inner substance of your teeth. It is this translucency of your enamel that provides your teeth with their shine. The translucent properties of porcelain veneers enable them to reproduce the luster of natural teeth.
The Importance of Using an Experienced Cosmetic Dentist
The installation of porcelain veneers requires an artistry generally lacked by general dentists. When done right, porcelain veneers will provide you with a vastly improved smile that will leave you beaming with self-confidence. When done poorly, they will look terrible and leave you wondering why you wasted your money.
In order to achieve the proper results, it is important to have your porcelain veneers done by an experienced cosmetic dentist. Cosmetic dentists approach dentistry with a keen artistic eye and have as their main purpose the aesthetic improvement of your smile. General dentists, on the other hand, are usually much more concerned with functionality than with aesthetics. As a result, veneers installed by a general dentist may not provide you with the improved appearance that you desire.
Cosmetic dentistry is a specialization that requires a great deal of training beyond dental school. By going to a highly trained cosmetic dentist, you will ensure that your porcelain veneers accomplish the desired purpose of making your smile as dynamic and beautiful as possible.

As with any surgery, there are risks and complications and there is time needed for recovery. Depending on the type of surgery you have, your general health, and how well you heal, recovery following surgery can vary from days to weeks to months.
If you have been considering having breast augmentation, you have probably taken into account how much time you’d have to take off from work and from you daily errands and activities. With all of the advances in technique and technology with cosmetic surgery, recovery time has become shorter and shorter in recent years.
What to Expect Following Breast Surgery
Keep in mind that any general information presented here will be for the general population, and you must realize that all cases vary. Recovery needs are very different from patient to patient, but here we can offer what is typical based on patient reports.
Following breast augmentation surgery, women will find that their breasts are very firm. Patients should spend the first 48 hours after surgery resting completely, doing absolutely no activity. Within several days, however, the patient should feel able to return to work, depending, of course, on what type of work they do. The specific recovery time will depend on the physical requirements of their job.
Here are some suggestions to speed up recovery following breast augmentation:
• Keep ice on the area on the day of your surgery
• Don’t sleep on your stomach for the first two weeks
• Avoid activities that put pressure on the chest area
After a few days, your cosmetic surgeon will remove your gauze dressings. Sometimes a surgical bra is provided to help with recovery. In ten days, your stitches will be removed.
The scars that you have from the surgery are permanent. With advances in technique and technology, scarring is minimal with breast augmentation surgery.

Some women blame the media and celebrities. Others compare themselves to friends and relatives. Still more are simply just unhappy.
When you look in the mirror, do you like what you see? If not, it could be affecting your emotional well-being even more than you know.
The Mind-Body Connection
In 2008, Reuters published an article that states cosmetic surgery provides an emotional boost to women’s self-esteem. The feature took a close look at five popular women’s magazines. Researchers found that nearly half of the 35 articles in the publications offered information on the emotional health of women before and after cosmetic surgery.
In articles discussing emotional health, 59 percent showed that emotional health improved after cosmetic procedures had been done. The most common were breast implants, liposuction, face lifts, facial implants and, of course, rhinoplasty or nose jobs.
On the Nose
With so many options for cosmetic surgery enhancements to improve how women feel about themselves and the image they project to others, rhinoplasty has remained at the top of the list for decades.
A 1971 article from The New York Times gave a brief overview of the widespread occurrence of rhinoplasty: “The most popular cosmetic operation is rhinoplasty, commonly referred to as a “nose job.” Surgeons can shorten, lengthen, tilt and straighten a nose.
Nearly 38 years later, rhinoplasty still reigns as one of the most popular choices in cosmetic procedures.
Don’t Hide Your Inner Beauty
If you feel the size, shape or profile of your nose is keeping you from shining or excelling in your daily life, you have the option to surgical alter its appearance and truly put your best face forward.
Your first step should be to consult with a licensed and expertly trained plastic surgeon. He or she will be able to help you translate the mental image of what’s making you unhappy into a realistic and attainable goal for your physical appearance. Your surgeon will also take you through the steps of what to expect before, during and after your rhinoplasty surgery.
Rhinoplasty at a Glance
A medical professional should always explain a procedure thoroughly before you agree to it. However, here are a few things you can expect immediately after rhinoplasty.
- Swelling and bruising around your eyes and discoloration of your eyelids
- Nasal congestion from swelling or from cotton packed inside your nose
- Downtime without physical activity including exercise or heavy lifting
- Bandages, splints and/or casts to be worn for one or more weeks
Make no mistake; rhinoplasty is not a quick process. However, the emotional rewards you may receive for years to come are a benefit that could far outweigh temporary discomfort. That’s likely why it has remained one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries in the country.

Our faces are our calling cards. They identify who we are, show our emotions and are connected with three out of the five senses that deliver outside information to our brains. But what happens when what you see in the mirror does not reflect your true identity?
If you have considered undergoing a facial plastic surgery procedure for cosmetic or medical reasons, you are not alone. In fact, 85 percent of American adults would undergo a cosmetic procedure if given the chance, says the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS). Furthermore, 80 percent of those surveyed said they would rather trust their faces to the surgical expertise of a facial plastic surgeon who specializes in cosmetic surgery of the head, face and neck than a general plastic surgeon.
Last year Americans underwent 2.3 million facial plastic surgery procedures and approximately 38,000 revision surgeries. Some procedures were purely cosmetic to enhance appearance or fight the signs of aging, while others were more medical, including surgeries to correct breathing problems.
Highly publicized tales of surgeries-gone-wrong — both invasive and non-invasive — have reinforced the importance of research to properly identify a highly experienced board-certified surgeon. With the vast number of surgeons in practice today, it is more important than ever to make informed decisions when considering an elective procedure such as cosmetic surgery.
Trust your face to a facial plastic surgeon
By doing your homework ahead of time, you can find a facial plastic surgeon whom you trust to maximize the benefits of your chosen treatments. A facial plastic surgeon will discuss your treatment options and make recommendations to correct any issues.
AAFPRS facial plastic surgeons are required to have training in their specialties. Many complete their four-year specialized residencies in the specialty of otolaryngology — head and neck surgery which includes facial plastic surgery. Many also acquire further clinical training or year-long fellowships in facial plastic surgery.
The AAFPRS is a leading source for researching surgeons and their expertise in your area, as well an educational resource for navigating through the many types of procedures that are performed. It is the world’s largest association of facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons, with more than 2,700 members who concentrate on the face, head and neck.
Referrals from family and friends who have undergone cosmetic procedures can be a great place to start your research. Another option is to obtain a recommendation from a trusted physician or health-care professional. Once you find a surgeon, ask how many procedures the surgeon has performed, and if the surgeon operates in an accredited facility. The surgeon needs to be one to whom you would trust your face.

Successful cosmetic plastic surgery is the result of good communication between patient and surgeon. Millions of people undergo cosmetic plastic surgery procedures each year. While striving for perfection drives this number, most physicians advise patients to look within and not in the mirror to make educated decisions when it comes to electing to have a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure. Having realistic expectations and goals is almost certain to provide an excellent result.
What is an Endoscope?
An endoscope is an instrument that is made up of two parts. One is a tiny camera with a bright light on the end of a long tube and the other is a television monitor, which displays a magnified image of what the camera sees. The surgeon performs the surgery while manipulating the endoscope and watching the monitor.
Blepharoplasty Corrects Droopy Eyelids
Droopy eyelids make you look older, tired and can also impair your vision in extreme cases. Blepharoplasty removes puffiness and bagginess under the eyes. This procedure is one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures performed in the United States today. Blepharoplasty also removes fat, muscle, and skin from upper and lower lids.
Surgical results from blepharoplasty differ from patient to patient. Generally, results are excellent.
Cosmetic Blepharoplasty
The goals of cosmetic blepharoplasty are to improve your appearance and sense of well being. Patients often express a wish for a more rested and youthful appearance and are pleased with the result.
Functional Blepharoplasty
Functional blepharoplasty restores an eyelid altered by infection, degeneration, or tumor. It can also improve vision. Vision restoration is often the primary goal of functional blepharoplasty. Patients report improved vision and less eyestrain after the procedure.
So in the end, the goal of a blepharoplasty is to improve the appearance of the eye for a more youthful look, to reduce the appearance of tiredness and to improve vision.

Women aren’t the only ones who care about their bodies. Though men are less open about it they, too, want to look and feel their best. Most men develop loose skin after a significant weight loss or gastric bypass surgery. Aging, too, can cause the skin to lose its elasticity, and result in sagging skin.
Tummy tuck surgery, formally known as abdominoplasty, can be performed as a full, partial or extended abdominoplasty. The closer you are to your ideal weight, the better results you can expect. A cosmetic surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery should perform your abdominoplasty.
A full tummy tuck involves incisions from the pubic area
A full tummy tuck involves incisions from the pubic area up to each hip, and vertically to, and around the belly button. The skin flaps are separated from the muscle, and then the muscle connective tissue is sutured to bring it closer together, flattening and tightening the muscles. Liposuction may be done at this point if there is excess fat. The skin flaps are then pulled snugly to fit the abdomen, trimmed to fit around the navel and to remove excess skin, and sutured. Lastly, drains are placed to reduce fluid buildup, and will remain in place for a few weeks, until swelling goes down and healing is nearly complete. Surgery can take up to five hours, and is done under general anesthesia.
Partial tummy tuck is similar to its full counterpart, but involves only the abdominal area below the level of the navel. The incision above the pubic bone is shorter, not extending all the way to the hip, and there is no need for the vertical incision, as the skin above the navel will not be displaced. The procedure is similar–liposuction may be done if there is excessive fat, and the lower abdominal muscles tightened by suturing. The skin is pulled down and trimmed off, then sutured closed. Drains are needed to reduce fluid buildup, which remain in place until swelling begins to resolve. Surgery takes about two hours, and is done, usually, under general anesthesia. ASPS has animated both procedures to give you a better understanding.
An extended tummy tuck reaches beyond the abdomen to the sides, above the hip, to remove those precious love handles. The incision extends beyond the hip, and an additional procedure, liposuction, can be done to remove excess fat. Aside from including an area that extends to the sides of the abdomen, the procedure is not much different from a full-abdominoplasty.

A brow lift can made a dramatic improvement in a person’s facial appearance and habitual expressions. It does not prevent facial expressions, but it can reduce those which cause frown lines and horizontal lines on the forehead.
What does a brow lift accomplish?
It raises the tissue on the forehead to raise drooping eyebrows. This also raises the hairline to give more height to the brow. It also smoothes out frown lines and horizontal lines by modifying the forehead muscles so that not all the muscle fibers will contract. The result is a higher, smoother forehead and less of a worried, tired or displeased expression.
What is an endoscopic brow lift?
An endoscope is a narrow tube with a light and camera at its tip. It is connected to a computer so that your cosmetic surgeon can see what he is doing in magnified images on the monitor. Three small incisions are made in the hairline (about an inch long) through which the endoscope and small implements can be inserted.
Your cosmetic surgeon will trim one or more of the muscles to reduce their activity and thus reduce formation of wrinkles and lines. The brow can also be raised using either a suture in the hairline or a small implant between the bone and tissue. Excess eyelid tissue is sometimes also raised to give the eyes a more youthful, clear look.
Endoscopic brow lifts have replaced the older brow lift procedures because they allow smaller incisions, shorter healing times, and faster and safer surgeries.
What muscles are in the forehead and what do they do?
There are three muscles which create lines on the forehead:
• The Procerus – above the nose. It pulls downwards on the skin between the eyebrows, contributing to a frowning expression.
• The Corrugator supercilii – on each side, slanted over each eye. They pull the eyebrows inwards and downwards, creating a frown.
• The Frontalis – covering the entire forehead in a slanted downwards formation. It lifts the eyebrows, creating horizontal lines.
Depending on your individual case, one or all of these muscles might be trimmed in a brow lift.
What is the brow lift recovery like?
Your cosmetic surgeon may wrap your head in a dressing, although not all surgeons do this. You will have clear printed instructions for self-care during your recovery.
As with most surgery, there will be some swelling and bruising. It will gradually fade over several weeks. You may be asked to keep your head elevated to help with that. You can use a painkiller and cold compresses for greater comfort. Usually people return to work after about one week. For two or three weeks you should avoid any strenuous activity.
How soon will I see the brow lift results?
You will see results within days, and more as the bruising and swelling subsides. No exact timeframe can be predicted because each person heals in their individual way. It might be several months before the full cosmetic improvement is visible.

Mini face lifts, otherwise known as weekend face lifts, have really grown in popularity. Maybe that is because they are quick and you don’t have a long recovery period. A weekend face lift focuses on certain areas of the face which can really make a difference to your anti-aging efforts such as a sagging jaw-line, and creases and folds around the cheeks and neck. A weekend facelift is very economical.
Weekend face lifts are quite new. They have got their nickname because they can be carried out very quickly and there is not a long recovery period needed. Traditional face lifts are more invasive and so healing and recovery time is much longer.
In a weekend facelift, small incisions will be made through which endoscopic instruments will be used to perform the face lift. The tissue of your face will be lifted and repositions for optimum anti-aging effect, with any extra tissue being trimmed away. No more droop or sag! Your skin will be sutured into position afterward.
Weekend face lifts are ideal to have at the early stage of aging, if you are impatient to be rid of them before you need a more radical procedure. People in their thirties and forties are the ones that usually opt for weekend face lifts. They may not be possible as the signs of aging progresses, say into your fifties.
For some people, only a full face lift will give them the results they require, if there is a lot of sagging and wrinkles are pronounced. Also, if you have wrinkles on your brow, a weekend face lift won’t help you with these problems. They are for more minor aging symptoms.
Another thing small about a mini face lift is the price. Perhaps you can’t afford a full traditional face lift, especially when you may lose salary from your recovery period too. With a mini face lift you can look younger without having to worry about all of that financial hardship.
To have this anti aging treatment or procedure, you need to find a cosmetic surgeon certified to carry it out. If you don’t know of a good qualified cosmetic surgeon, ask around with people you know. Perhaps they have had the procedure and can recommend a surgeon. Of course, you may also research cosmetic surgeons online, and when you find a surgeon you’re interested in, ask him or her if they have patient references.
You will have a consultation where you need to ask any questions that you may have and listen to the procedure being explained to you, so you are happy to proceed. Also, think about whether the staff put you at your ease. They should be happy to reassure you and answer any questions.
So, that is what is meant by a weekend face lift – is it what you want?

Acne Laser Treatment is a method that has helped millions to get rid of acne. Each year, individuals find out that the over the counter medications that they get at their local drug store just do not provide enough help to them. They have likely tried several products and can not find method to get rid of acne. Acne laser treatment can actually help to stop acne once and for all for many individuals.
How Does It Work?
Acne laser treatment is just what it sounds like. The technician will use a very powerful and small laser to effectively trigger the acne. Usually, the procedure will be done because the acne is being caused, at least in part, by over producing oils in the skin. The laser will get to these glands that are under the skin and causing the oils and destroy them. While this seems harsh, laser acne treatment is virtually painless. There are no ramifications to having these glands destroyed either. Once the glands stop producing oils, the bacteria that cause acne will not have an optimal place to grow. This in turn effectively stops acne.
It is important to know that in most causes acne treatments will not necessary cure the acne that is already on your face or body. This will usually be done with antibiotics. Once the oils slow or stop though, there will be fewer outbreaks of acne on the face or body once these heal.
Scar Treatment:Another option for the use of acne laser treatment is that in which the acne scars can be removed. This very powerful laser can actually remove the top layers of your skin near and on the scar. When new skin grows back, it will be healthy and scars are either gone or they are not as visible. Acne scar laser treatment is fast becoming a way to get rid of acne scars that have been on a person’s body for years.
In either treatment, laser acne treatment can be quite effective. In some cases, there will be the need for several treatments to be done, though. Skin Care maintenance can also be prescribed to compliment the acne laser treatment. The only bad part of acne laser treatment is that it is not necessarily cheap. With the several treatments that may be necessary, it may be quite expensive. Yet, even with that said, the results for laser treatments are amazing for many.
