With the combination of two devices is possible to repair stretch marks. Smartlipo Triplex is used to deliver heat precisely to the sub-dermal layer, stimulating significant collagen production in the dermal layer of skin, which leads to filling of the existing stretch marks and skin tightening. Additionally, the increased collagen support in the dermis improves skin’s elasticity and can prevent further stretch marks.” Plus a Fractional CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing treatment works by emitting short, scattered pulses of ablative light to only a fraction of the stretch mark creating microscopic wounds stimulating new collagen and epithelium to repair and restore the skin’s elasticity. If spider veins are bothersome, they can be treated in your dermatologist’s office. “Laser therapy is the best way to remove spider veins on the face and has been the gold standard for the past 20 years. The veins selectively absorb the laser’s wavelengths of light; this light destroys the blood vessels and restores the skin’s natural appearance. Laser treatment is quick, safe and the results are immediate.”
For smaller veins on the face typically require only a single laser treatment that lasts about 10 minutes. Some people may choose to have a topical anesthetic or ice applied to the area being treated to reduce possible discomfort. Side effects are few and include temporary discoloration of the area treated. There are many other skin problems which are treated with laser… to find out more: www.arrivacostarica.com

Now with stem cells, which have immunosuppressive and immuno modulatory properties, there is more hope for vitiligo patients. Stem cells are injected intra-venous in the body and helps stabilize the spread of vitiligo, and boost pigmentation over a period of time. Fortunately, with recent advances in biotechnology and Melanocyte transplant surgery, such therapy has made it possible for patients to get back their original skin colour. While radio frequency energy causes the skin to tighten through its warmth, and special kilowatt light rays kills the bacteria, the laser adds to the overall effect in healing and cosmetic enhancement.
Dermatologists previously came to the conclusion that the best way to treat acne is through ultraviolet light. It was then found that these types of UV lights have been known to cause cancer. Today, lasers are the primary and most effective way to treat acne…. to learn more go to: www.arrivacostarica.com

Aging means having to witness the effects of genetics, gravity, and the consequences of a lifetime of bad habits as they surface on the body and face. Each year the mirror reveals more evidence of the betrayals of time. The betrayals are endless, and include such things as age spots from sun damage, fine lines, sags, wrinkles, dryness, and large pores.
And sometimes an unexpected rosy glow shows up too. Could it be rosacea? Most of us hear that word and immediately picture someone we know with a bright red face, that never ever goes away. In reality, rosacea is an inflammatory condition that can affect any area of skin on the body and destroy the sufferer’s self-esteem at the same time.
A reported 14 million people in the United States suffer from a form of rosacea. Some admit they miss work, and others even isolate themselves from the public, all due to this condition. As of yet, there’s no known cause or cure for rosacea. However, the symptoms can be treated and managed with great success.
If you are wondering if you might have primary rosacea, here are some of the symptoms. They include flushing, acne, red skin, age spots, pronounced fine lines from dryness, and spider veins. Secondary symptoms may include stinging, burning, or itching skin that feels tight. Your eyes may feel irritated too.
Red patches may develop on random parts of the skin. The skin itself may become dry and rough, or swell up from edema. A thickening of skin on the nose can occur. Rosacea can also show up on the chest, scalp, neck and ears as well.
Rosacea flare-ups occur differently for each person. A partial list of triggers may include exposure to sunlight, medications, stress, genetics, certain foods, dairy, alcohol, cleansers, and perfumes. If this is you, make a list the next time a flare-up occurs. Write down the last thing you did, ate or used, right before it happened.
Knowing triggers and adjusting your lifestyle in regards to them won’t cure rosacea, but it may help in limiting occurrences and the severity of them.
It is also important to see a dermatologist. They can prescribe oral antibiotics and topical agents to combat inflammation and manage symptoms. When the antibiotics are finished, the topical agents are usually continued for ongoing symptom management purposes.
Topical agents come in different forms, including creams, which are popular with sufferers for a couple of reasons. First, they alleviate symptoms by soothing rough and irritated skin and decreasing the redness and swelling of tissues. Plus they reduce the appearance of lesions, spider veins, fine lines and age spots. They also help the skin retain moisture by improving its natural barrier function.
With continued use, these agents work as an anti-aging cream. Noticeable improvements are seen as fine lines and wrinkles caused by sun damage and aging are repaired, and dark spots and blemishes are diminished. There are several kinds of topical agents to choose from and some are even available without a prescription. However, seeing a dermatologist first, will ensure you get the best treatment for your individual case.

The original name of this disease was acne rosacea, an inappropriate term that may cause confusion with acne vulgaris (common acne) and is best abandoned. The disease evolves in stages. The early signs are recurrent episodes of blushing that finally become persistent in dark-red erythema (abnormal redness), particularly on the nose and cheeks, often in persons less than 20 years of age. Theses are so-called flushers and blushers. Rosacea is common in the 20’s and 30’s and peaks between the ages of 40 to 50 years. In the worst cases, disfiguring hypertrophy (swelling and redness), particularly of the nose (rhinophyma), may develop after many years.
The Contributing Factors
Rosacea is a fairly common disease, especially in fair-skinned people of Celtic or Northern Europen heritage, hence the term curse of the Celts. Although women are more affected than men in earlier stages (3:1 ratio), men develop the swelling tissue that lead to rhinophyma much more frequently.
The importance of sun-damaged skin in rosacea cannot be stressed enough. Rosacea is always associated with sun exposure, so protection of the skin with total sun blocks and cover ups is important. (to view or purchase total sunblock click here) However, an increase in sun sensitivity has not been shown in rosacea patients.
Some other contributing factors may be genetis disposition (heritage); gastrointestinal disturbances; and bacteria. None of them has been definitely confirmed, other than the cotributing factors of sunlight abd heat. It is certain, however, that rosacea patients have a tendency to flush and blush.
The Various Stages of Rosacea
Rosacea patients often experience increased redness (erythema) on the central areas of the face, leff often the neck and v-shaped areas of the chest. These individuals are constantly blushing, caused by numerous resons: ultraviolet radiation, heat, cold, chemical irritation, strong emotions, alcoholic beverages, hot drinks, and spices. Eventually flushing and blushing lead to permanent erythema.
- Stage1: The erythema persists for hours and days. Tiny, scattered, red blood vessels (telangectasia) become progressively more noticeable, forming sprays on the nose and cheeks. Most of these people complain of sensitive skin that stings and burns after application of a variety of cosmetics, fragrances, and certain sunscreens. (For non-irritating rosacea treatment, visit the NuCelle Page)
- Stage 2: Inflammatory papules and postules, that resemble tiny pimples, crop up and persist for weeks. Comedones do not occur, facial prores become more prominent, and shallow scars from inflamed lesions are possible. The attacks of pimple-like papules become more and more frequent. Finally, rosacea may extend over the entire face and also the scalp.
- Stage 3: A small proportion of people go on to develop the worst expression of the disease, namely, large inflammatory tissue hyperplasia. This causes swelling deformations on the cheeks and nose, less often on the chin. The facial contours become coarse, thickened, and irregular. People may not notice this gradual coarsening of appearance, and the cange becomes evident when old photographs are viewed. Finally the person shows inflamed and thickened skin with large pores, resembling the surface of an orange.
Skin Care and Topical Treatments for Rosacea
Rosacea sufferers have skin that is unusually vulnerable to chemical and physical insults. All sources of irritation, such as soaps, alcoholic cleansers, tinctures, astringents, abrasives, and peeling agents, must be avoided. Only very mild soaps or properly diluted detergents are advised. Protection against sunlight requires emphasis. For some it may be hard to find a sunscreen that is tolerated without burning or irritation.
Topical Antibiotics as used in acne, are sometimes effective. The mandelic acid in NuCelle’s Mandelic Line is a natural anibiotic. Prescrption antibiotics can also be obtained from your dermatologist.
Retinoids are also worth a trial. This includes the tretinoin products such as Retin-a® and Renova®.
Azelaic Acid The anti-inflammatory properties of this compound may be the cause of its promising results.
SunscreensPreferably of the broad spectrum UVA plus UVB and infrared type, with a sun protecting factor (SPF) of 15 or higher. Please view the Sunblock page, which has a sunblock of 50 SPF available, and a total sunblock of SPF 60, that serves as a foundation as well as a sunblock.

Happy with your health insurance? Its probably because you’re healthy and don’t really need it. But when you do get sick, you may discover your insurance doesn’t cover as much as what you thought.
Just when you have the least physical and emotional ability to cope, you find yourself dealing with a financial and bureaucratic nightmare of claims that are refused, and procedures and medications that are denied by an anonymous insurance administrator telling their doctor what they can and cannot prescribe.
Saying the U.S. has the best health care in the world doesn’t make it so.
The World Health Organization ranks the U.S. health-care system 37th, between Costa Rica and Slovenia, behind three South American countries and well behind the much-maligned UK and Canadian systems.
While it’s true we have some of the best technology, research and training for doctors and nurses, if Americans can’t access them, it doesn’t make much difference how great it is. French cuisine is arguably the best in the world, but try telling that to the starving 18th century French peasants who because of their hunger and other sufferings, started the French revolution.
While false fears run rampant about “pulling the plug on Grandma” and government funds for abortion, there seems to be little regard for people between the age of 0 and 65 who are dying, suffering or going bankrupt because they just can’t afford the health care they need.
In this, one of the wealthiest countries in the world, every child, every person, should have access to health care. No parent should have to wait until their child gets so sick that the emergency room is the only option. No one should have to divorce an ailing spouse in order to avoid bankruptcy or poverty. No one should die because they can’t afford to be treated. Access to affordable health care, like freedom and democracy, is a moral issue.
Many insurers and employers, meanwhile, are discovering Costa Rica for exceptional medical and dental care. For more information, please go to www.arrivacostarica.com

Many Costa Rican hospitals and clinics have received certification that puts them on par with U.S. medical centers, a move that national competitiveness authorities know will boost this country’s profile as a prime destination for medical tourism.
Following a six-month review process, the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Facilities (AAAASF) has certified several private surgical and ambulatory centers, such as UNIBE hospital, And top JCI accredited hospitals, or soon to be accredited, include CIMA Hospital, Hospital Clinica Biblica, and La Catolica Hospital.
“The international accreditation of health services allows us to position ourselves among countries such as the United States, where patients are looking for certified qualified,” said Dr. Jorge Cortés, president of the Council for the International Promotion of Costa Rican Medicine (PROMED).
The vast majority of Costa Rica’s medical tourists come from the United States, whose population in many cases lacks affordable health care. Many procedures here are as little as one-third the cost, or less.
Nearly 13 percent of the medical tourists who visit Costa Rica seek cosmetic surgery procedures, while another 35 percent come for dental work, according to a study by the Competitiveness Ministry. In the U.S., insurance companies are beginning to catch on, offering to chip in for travel packages to this Central American country. For more information, go to www.arrivacostarica.com
