Affordable Healthcare and Costa Rica!

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Happy with your health insurance? Its probably because you’re healthy and don’t really need it. But when you do get sick, you may discover your insurance doesn’t cover as much as what you thought.

Just when you have the least physical and emotional ability to cope, you find yourself dealing with a financial and bureaucratic nightmare of claims that are refused, and procedures and medications that are denied by an anonymous insurance administrator telling their doctor what they can and cannot prescribe.

Saying the U.S. has the best health care in the world doesn’t make it so.

The World Health Organization ranks the U.S. health-care system 37th, between Costa Rica and Slovenia, behind three South American countries and well behind the much-maligned UK and Canadian systems.

While it’s true we have some of the best technology, research and training for doctors and nurses, if Americans can’t access them, it doesn’t make much difference how great it is. French cuisine is arguably the best in the world, but try telling that to the starving 18th century French peasants who because of their hunger and other sufferings, started the French revolution.

While false fears run rampant about “pulling the plug on Grandma” and government funds for abortion, there seems to be little regard for people between the age of 0 and 65 who are dying, suffering or going bankrupt because they just can’t afford the health care they need.

In this, one of the wealthiest countries in the world, every child, every person, should have access to health care. No parent should have to wait until their child gets so sick that the emergency room is the only option. No one should have to divorce an ailing spouse in order to avoid bankruptcy or poverty. No one should die because they can’t afford to be treated. Access to affordable health care, like freedom and democracy, is a moral issue.

Many insurers and employers, meanwhile, are discovering Costa Rica for exceptional medical and dental care. For more information, please go to www.arrivacostarica.com

MEDICAL COST SAVING TRIP TO COSTA RICA

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

A family from Vienna, Virginia saved thousands of dollars when they went to Costa Rica for medical and dental care. Barbara and her daughter Angie had battled with obesity most of their lives. Both mother and daughter had developed symptoms like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and with Barbara, there was also the problem of knee pain because of her higher BMI.

Barbara says “ArrivaCostaRica.com” was the main source of information. We chose Costa Rica for weight loss surgery, because that looked the best to us. We saved about 60% on the cost of gastric bypass surgery in the US.

The Costa Rica hospital was excellent, clean and modern, and with all the up-to-date equipment you can imagine. The staff was very courteous, professional, and spoke English. If someone didn’t speak English, there would always be an interpreter around.

Eleven months later, Barbara and Angie are now enjoying the fruits of a successful bariatric surgery, with Barbara having lost 55 pounds and Angie 80. Their weight-related problems have improved drastically.

Angie’s dad accompanied them on their medical trip to Costa Rica. They stayed at the main surgery recovery inn, Las Cumbres Inn. While there, he decided to check out the dental clinic. Impressed by the level of cosmetic dentistry in Costa Rica, he got his dental bridges, dental crowns, and dental implants in Costa Rica at a huge discount. So, not did her dad save about 50% on the cost, but he also had them done in record time.

All in all, this family from Virginia is very satisfied with their cost-saving and high quality medical and dental trip to Costa Rica.

A sculpted Look after Massive Weight Loss!

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

Losing a massive amount of weight is a very exciting and impressive achievement. It can dramatically improve your health and such conditions as Type II Diabetes and high blood pressure. A huge weight loss will add years to your life and will greatly enhance the quality of that life. Yet there may be some unwanted byproducts from losing a lot of weight. Particularly, many people may be left with loose hanging folds of skin.

The skin was stretched out so much during the years of obesity that its elasticity is compromised and it is not able to shrink back down as the pounds melt away. This loose, lax skin can be very unsightly and partially undermine the positive feelings you have about your amazing accomplishment. Fortunately, today plastic surgery is available to correct this problem.

Body Contouring is Very Popular

Massive weight loss is a very common reason for having plastic surgery procedures performed. Patients typically tend to request body contouring operations like breast enhancement, liposuction, tummy tuck, and body lift.

Breast Enhancement
The breasts can be particularly affected by massive weight loss. The skin may hang and sag after the loss of a lot of breast tissue. Breast lifts and implants can eliminate the excess skin and provide firm, tight breasts again. There are many different sizes of breast implants to choose from to best fit your body. The recovery does involve some down time and breast tenderness, but the results may give you great satisfaction when you look in the mirror.

Liposuction
This is a procedure that allows the plastic surgeon to remove diet and exercise resistant fat pockets to help you get all the way to the figure you desire. You have done most of the work with your massive weight loss; liposuction can make up the difference. The most common areas for this cosmetic surgery are the stomach, hips, thighs, and buttocks. The plastic surgeon makes incisions in these areas and uses a small tube called a cannula to suck out unwanted fat deposits. The healing process requires resting for several days, but the results can be dramatic. They may allow you to finally look as good as you feel!

Tummy Tucks
A tummy tuck is the nickname for an abdominoplasty, a plastic surgery designed to tighten up the abs and surround skin. This is particularly helpful after losing a lot of weight because the plastic surgeon is able to excise off the loose hanging skin from your abdomen. He or she will make an incision near the pubic bone, make sutures to tighten the abdominal muscles, then pull down the stomach skin to stretch it tight, cut off the extra skin and stitch up the incision. While this operation will not give you an instant six-pack, it can significantly smooth out the appearance and feel of your tummy area.

Body Lifts
Body lifts are similar to tummy tucks except that they can take place in other regions of the body besides the abdomen. These include arm lifts where the loose, baggy skin on the upper arms is removed and smoothed. Thigh lifts and butt lifts also get rid of extra skin, firming up those regions and eliminating the tell-tale signs of your previously heavy state.

Plastic surgery is very safe in general and an effective way to remove unwanted sags and wrinkles. Body contouring, specifically is a great method of completing your new look after massive weight loss.

Plastic Surgery for the Summer

Friday, June 5th, 2009

Summer is just around the corner, and it brings beach days, outings on the lake, and pool parties with friends and family. If you haven’t pulled your bathing suit out of the bottom of your summer drawer yet, you most likely will shortly.

If you have been struggling to get that beach body back through diet and exercise, do not fret. There are other ways to ensure that you will look great at the beach or by the lake. There are numerous plastic surgery procedures that can help you look your best by the time summer rolls around.

Breast Augmentation to Fill Out Your Bikini

If you have always wanted to fill out your bikini a little better, breast augmentation may be the right option for you. Your plastic surgeon can offer you several different breast implant options, depending on your aesthetic goals. Several years ago, the FDA reapproved silicone for use in breast implants. Silicone provides you with a more natural looking and feeling result. However, if you prefer, you can still choose to go with a saline implant.

You may also want to consider a breast lift in conjunction with your breast augmentation. This additional procedure is quite common for women who are trying to reduce sagging caused by childbirth. During the procedure, your plastic surgeon will remove loose skin and reposition your nipples in order to give you a firmer breast appearance.

Body Contouring Options for a Great Summer Figure

If you are more concerned with toning up your body to look good on the beach, you may want to consider several body contouring options. There are many safe procedures that will help you reshape problem areas to achieve a more sculpted, sexy appearance.

If you have stubborn pockets of fat that have been resistant to diet and exercise, you may want to consider liposuction. Your plastic surgeon will use a small tube called a cannula to break up your fat and remove it through a suction process. The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis, and you should be fully healed in time to look great all summer long.

The stomach is one of the most difficult regions of your body to keep firmly toned. For many people, excess fat builds up around the abdominal region, and often diet and exercise are not able to get the job done. If you have gone through pregnancy, it may be even more difficult to regain a firm abdomen. In order to achieve that toned stomach you have always wanted, you may want to consider a tummy tuck.

During a tummy tuck, your plastic surgeon will tighten and reposition abdominal muscles to give you a smaller waistline. He will also remove excess skin to give you a more toned appearance. In many cases, the effectiveness of your tummy tuck can be enhanced by a liposuction procedure.

Lipodissolve vs Liposuction

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

In one corner, we have lipodissolve. Lipodissolve is the injection of serums to regulate those pesky fats that simply won’t go away. In the other corner, we have liposuction. Liposuction is the sucking out of these fats in a quick process that can be compared to a vacuum.

A person has a right to choose. This involves the decision on what she wants to do with her body. If she feels that lipodissolve or liposuction is the way to go, then she has the freedom to do so. This article will present the 411s on both processes to make it easier for the woman to make her decision.

LIPODISSOLVE:
If the person has a couple of medical conditions, she must consult her doctor first and ask whether it is safe for her to go through the procedure.
- if she has active cancer
- if she has just went through surgery
- if she has HIV
- if she has Hepatitis C
- if she has any form of kidney or liver disease
- if she has bleeding disorders
- if she is pregnant
- if she is nursing

If one chooses to go through the procedure, here are some important points to remember:

1. Do not engage in any form of strenuous or vigorous activity 48 hours after the procedure.

2. People who have gone through lipodissolve do not need much bed rest. They can get up and go to work and proceed in their daily itinerary. This is why most people favor this procedure.

3. Women who have just given birth opt for lipodissolve because one of the target areas of this procedure is the stubborn fat like lower abs.

4. If you think only women can benefit from this process, think again. Turns out men are also signing up for lipodissolve to reduce the stubborn fat from their chins, chests and love handles.

5. The difference of lipodissolve from other surgeries is that it does not require anesthesia. Also there is no downtime. The patient can just pick up with his schedule right from the minute he left.

6. Each treatment takes less than an hour, therefore earning the nickname “lunchtime lipo.”

7. As for the results, it varies from person to person. Normally, it takes nine treatments to see the best results.

8. You must be 18 years old for this procedure.

9. Normally, some areas will be painful. A minor burning sensation follows right after the treatment. Soreness and inflammation may occur after the procedure.

10. The goal of lipodissolve is for the client to have his unwanted fat removed. As the fat dissolves, the targeted areas appear tighter and leaner than usual, making the total perception of the client’s body lean and muscular and toned.

LIPOSUCTION:
Liposuction sculpts the body in the manner that the person wants to be sculpted. Fats from specific areas are removed. Usually, these are the fats located in the upper arms, the chin, cheeks and neck.

A number of people are gearing up for liposuction and has even been considered to be good hygiene. For the past decade, liposuction is popular and is considered to be a normal procedure to sign up for.

If a person opts for liposuction, he or she must be responsible enough to approach his doctor whether this is the best way to go or not. Doctors advice always matters.

Remember to:
1. Plan out your surgery
2. Ask the important questions such as the side effects and the costs.
3. Follow your surgeons’ tips and do whatever is asked of you prior to your surgery date.

Whatever the person chooses, lipodissolve or liposuction, these procedures involve responsibility. Coping with these cosmetic surgeries can not only affect their physical welfare but also their mental and emotional state.

Looking young

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Once a woman stands in front of a mirror, one may have couple of reactions. It can either be impressive or disappointing. Responses may vary depending on age. For some women, there will be a sallow skin tone and age spots. Wrinkles will start to appear as well as puffiness of the eyes. Sagging of the mouth that will manifest some creepiness in the eyelids or looseness at the throat, such things are inevitable. This is one thing that a woman must understand; skin grows with the age so as to avoid disappointments.

Research shows that there are two distinct type of skin aging. One that is caused by the genes that are directly inherited is called intrinsic aging. The other type known as extrinsic aging is caused by environmental factors, such as exposure to sun’s rays. Since it can preoccupy any woman, one must learn some exercises that will help delay these aging effects with regards to one’s type. Looseness can be stopped and tightening of the skin and a toning of the muscle tissue can be achieved.

These days, women tend to spend thousands of dollars on surgeries just to achieve that younger looking skin. Scientific research in the field of anti-aging assures a promising treatment options. This does not necessarily work right away since plastic surgery is a process. Muscles on one’s face will be continuously pulled by gravity which drags the skin unnaturally. If this will be the case, the investment on surgical procedures would surely increase.

In order to look young, one can consider a cheaper and more practical way as an alternative. It does not necessarily need to be expensive. Facial exercises that use resistance and isometric contractions of facial muscles by thumbs and fingers can be of help. Proper exercise and diet must also be strictly observed. Such practices can indeed rival results of most plastic surgery procedures.

Things are possible. One can look younger as to deceive the age. Women need not to worry when facing the mirror. With the presence of facial exercises, it is like turning back time. One may wonder if the glaring reflection is for real.

Going Back To Your Figure After Weight Loss

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Losing weight is hard work no matter how you do it. The end result is worth it, though, offering better health, easier mobility, and more self-confidence.

But the aftermath of massive weight loss can sometimes be difficult to deal with. Skin that’s been stretched by your original weight gain remains loose, and sometimes even fat deposits remain in certain places, seemingly impervious to any additional diet or exercise.

Many people who’ve lost large amounts of weight, whether through diligent diet and exercise or through gastric bypass or another medically supervised regimen, find themselves facing this challenge.

Fortunately, cosmetic surgery offers options that can help bring you the body you’ve worked so hard for. A selection of specifically targeted body contouring procedures will remove loose skin and stubborn fat deposits, tighten stretched abdominal muscles, and provide lean, healthy body contours to match the hard, long-term work you’ve put in losing the weight.

Some common procedures include:

Tummy tuck. A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, tightens the skin and supporting muscles of the abdomen, as well as removing fat deposits.

Buttock lift. Refines the shape and contours of the buttock area to eliminate fat that tends to cling here.

Thigh lift. This procedure is most commonly performed on the inner thighs—another area where fat tends to congregate and then refuse to leave.

Liposuction. Liposuction uses a small, stainless steel tube and suction to “vacuum” out layers of fat under the skin.

Breast lift. If you’ve lost a great deal of weight, chances are you’ve lost weight from your breasts, as well. A breast lift can reduce sag and bring them back to the correct position. Men can also experience excess skin and sagging in the breast area after massive weight loss.

Body contouring can include a combination of these procedures, depending on which areas of your body need the most attention. A board certified, experienced plastic surgeon can help you determine what procedures and approach would be best for you. Give yourself the gift of the trim, healthy body you’ve worked so long and hard to achieve.

Improving the Shape and Appearance of Your Nose

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

As one of the most prominent features of the face, the nose plays a key role in enhancing, or detracting from, your looks. If you are not happy with the shape or size of your nose, it can adversely affect your social, personal and professional life. Fortunately, different surgical and non-surgical options to reshape the nose and boost one’s confidence are now available at a variety of price points.

Cosmetic Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)

Many people go in for nose surgery to enhance their natural nose shape, correct bumps or modify crooked shapes. Although nose surgery often serves cosmetic purposes, it is also used to repair injuries to nose and the improve breathing problems.

The Procedure

Rhinoplasty is a relatively simple procedure that is performed under a general anesthetic and is often completed within an hour or two. Rhinoplasty surgeons perform two types of nose surgery. In the ‘closed’ procedure, incisions are made inside the nose. Since the scars are internal, they remain hidden. In the ‘open’ method, incisions are made outside the nose. Such external incisions are common in nose surgeries performed to reduce the size of the nose. However, the scars will not be visible since they blend in with the crease of the nose.

Nose surgery can rectify common issues like:

  • Size of the nose (too large or too small)
  • Length and shape of the nose
  • A bulging nose tip
  • Bumps or humps on the nose

The extent to which a nose may be modified depends on the natural cartilage and bone structure. Before undergoing such a surgery, it is best to consult a reputable surgeon or rhinoplasty clinic to determine exactly what modifications can be made. If you are able to present pictures of the shape of nose you would like to have, it will aid the surgeon in advising what can actually be achieved.

After Surgery
After the surgery, the nose will be covered with a splint dressing that will stay in place for about 10 days. For up to six weeks after surgery, the nose may be bruised and swollen. During this time, it is best to avoid strenuous tasks like intensive exercise and sporting activities so help speed up nasal healing. Once the swelling and bruising begin to decline, the nose will appear to change shape for the next few months. It is important to be patient until the healing process is complete and the nose attains its final shape.

The Cost of Rhinoplasty
The cost of nose jobs varies depending on the extent of surgery performed and prevailing prices in an area. For instance, it will cost less if you only need to reshape the tip of nose because all that the surgeon has to do is reshape the cartilage at the nose tip. On the other hand, if you need a major change in shape, the surgeon will have to reshape and file down the bone, leading to higher costs.

Remember, even subtle changes to the nose can dramatically enhance your appearance.

Affordable Non-Surgical Alternatives to Rhinoplasty
While cosmetic nose surgery, when performed correctly by a skilled plastic surgeon, remains the gold-standard for permanently improving the shape and appearance of the nose, less expensive and less permanent alternatives to rhinoplasty have now become available.

One such alternative is popularly known as the “15-minute nose job” or “non-surgical nose job.” This procedure involves injecting biocompatible fillers like RadiesseTM and RestylaneTM into selected areas on the nose. The method seeks to contour and shape the nose in addition to diminishing the prominence of any bumps on the nose and the effects typically last about 1 – 2 years before a touch-up is required, depending on which types of fillers are used. More permanent types of fillers are also beginning to be used by some physicians. The procedure is performed in a doctor’s office using only local numbing agents to control the mild pain of the injections. The cost for a filler-based, non-surgical nose job is generally about 10% that of a surgical rhinoplasty. Many of the physicians who are experienced at performing non-surgical nose jobs have posted before-and-after pics of their work on the Internet, which will give you an excellent idea of what can be achieved by this technique.

Another exciting and affordable alternative to rhinoplasty is the use of nose correcting inserts that temporarily improve the appearance of the nose while worn. The product, called NoseSecret, consists of two arc-shaped, flexible polymer inserts that are placed in the lower part of the nose to improve its shape. The inserts sit invisibly in the nose, gently pushing the tip outward to refine the overall appearance of the nose. However, unlike the other options, there are some limitations on using this product. For example, it should not be worn overnight while sleeping. NoseSecret comes in different sizes to match different noses and sells for around $30.
